District Collector T.N.Hariharan convened a review meeting with District Officials in view of the forth coming Vinayakar Chathurthi.
The police and revenue officials deliberated on the necessary arrangements to be made for Vinayakar Chaturthi processions and security arrangements to be made.
The meeting also appealed to devotees to prepare and sanctify Vinayakar idols using environmentally-friendly materials such as clay, and cuppa batter during Vinayakar Chathurthi. Using plaster of Paris idols, washed with artificial colorants and paints sanctifying them for worship is banned due to its polluting nature of water bodies, in which it would be immersed later.
Vinayakar idols made up of environmentally polluting materials would be seized by the officials said the Collector. Higher police, revenue officials took part in the meeting. SP Murthi, DCP Lakshmi, Sub Collector Gayathri Krishnan took part in the meeting.
