The City Corporation has slapped spot fines on the erring owners of construction sites who have not followed the anti-dengue measures as was advised to them by the corporation staff.
While the anti-dengue spot inspection of construction sites, which are a a major breeding sties for mosquitoes are carried out zonal wise, the erring house sites owners have been slapped with fines for noncompliance in adopting anti dengue measures.
While 28 sites in East zone were inspected and Rs. 8000 collected as fines for noncompliance, 24 and 42 construction sites in the North and central zone also came under inspection and fines slapped to the tune of Rs.3000 each.
Areas under west zone, such as Alagesan colony Ramnagar, Puliakularm attracted a fine of Rs.6,500 for not adopting measures to check breeding of mosquitoes such as rain water gathering in tires, pits and not disposing off unwanted materials such as containers, not mixing of abate solution, and draining of water stagnation.
