Sukesh Balaji, an accused in AIADMK symbol bribery case, who was arrested and imprisoned in Tihar Jail was produced in a Coimbatore court for a cheating case of Rs.2.5 lakhs which was filed on him in 2010 and the judge extended his judicial custody to August 30.
Sukesh Balaji had cheated Rajavelu, a Coimbatore - based industrialist in 2010 and collected Rs, 2.5 lakhs from him. The accused had impersonated himself as a higher official in the rank of deputy secretary in Andhra Pradesh Government and contacted Rajavelu under the pretext of helping him to get a contract for kitchen and medical equipment.
When Sukesh Balaji had demanded another Rs.3.5 lakhs Rajavelu, smelt a rat and went to verify the former’s credentials. Rajuvelu then realized that the impersonator had cheated him out of his money. Following which, Rajavelu preferred a complaint to the city crime branch police and the case was filed in in Judicial Magistrate court here.
Earlier a warrant was issued by the court to arrest Sukesh the police after obtaining a prison transit order brought him to the city and produced him in the court.
