CCM Corporation has planned to establish three pedestrian foot bridges at vital junctions including one each at Cross Cut Road in Gandhipuram, Central and near SETC bus stand.
These foot bridges, a pedestrian facility would be constructed to overcome the congestion in over crowded city roads, which are clogged by motorists and it would be implemented under the Under the Smart City Project” said K. Vijayakarthikeyan, City Corporation Commissioner.
A Consulting agency would study the feasibility of the project as per the needs of the given locations.
“The setting up of subways which were planned as an integral part of the Gandhipuram fly over project did not take off as UGDS and telecommunication networks underground proved a hindrance and so the civic body has taken up the foot over bridge ” the commissioner said.
