The Centre would not entertain any request to give NEET exemption to consecutive three years as is wanted by the State, Pon.Radhakrishnan, Union Minister said that such move by political parties would only be disadvantageous to the Tamilnadu student community and destroy their future prospects.

Briefing the media even as the news of NEET exemption given to Tamilnadu Students for Medical Admissions 2017 by Centre is well received by Tamilnadu Student Community Pon.Radhakrishnan said that the current NEET exemption for 2017 would apply to Government quota in Government and private medical colleges.
While lauding K.Sengottaiyan, Minister for School Education for continuously pressing the government for NEET exemption for the current year he said that three year exemption as asked by the minister is not a feasible and practical one.
The present decision is taken in view of 90% of Tamilnadu students who have studied through state board and it is bounden duty of the Tamilnadu Government to make the rural students on par with the rest of India in competing at the national eligibility tests such as NEET.
"Prolonged exemption from NEET only defeat the purpose of Tamilnadu students in the long run", Pon.Radhakrishnan said.
