S.P.Velumani, Minister for Municipalities and Rural Development inaugurated Bharathiar University constituent Arts and Science College at Pollachi.
Pollachi Jeyaraman, the Deputy Speaker of Tamilnadu Assembly delivered a special address and District Collector T.N.Hariharan presided over the function. V.Ganapathi, Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University and others took part.
Later S.P.Velumani distributed welfare measures including farmer loans to 6 beneficiaries, subsidized coconut saplings to farmers, through the Agricultural Department.
Adding that the admission to the new Arts and Science College would commence from the current academic year 2017-18 itself. Five undergraduate courses including B.A (English), B.Sc. (Mathematics) B.Com and B.com (CA) and BBA would be offered in Government Art College Pollachi, he said.
