As we are about to celebrate our 71st Independence Day, pre-Independence celebrations has already begun in the city. Owing to the long weekend, many educational institutions and establishments have already celebrated the Independence Day by paying tribute to the freedom fighters who lost their precious lives for making our nation, Independent.
To commemorate the freedom fighters hailing from the Kongu belt especially Coimbatore and Tiruppur, the VOC Seva Trust have organised a Photo Exhibition which will showcase some unseen and rare images of the freedom fighters of this region.

SP Velumani, Minister for rural development and special programmes declared open the exhibition, this morning. Tamilvaanan, President of Thirukural Maamandram was the guest of honour for the event.
The photo Exhibition is open for public from today, the 13th till 15th August at the Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School, RS Puram.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Marimuthu, President of VOC Seva Trust said that "Close to 271 rare photographs of freedom fighters from Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts are on display at the Exhibition. We have taken strenuous efforts to source these photographs from the concerned people. These are not just photographs but treasures which everyone of us should witness".

"And, none of these images can be found in the internet hence people should make use of this opportunity to visit the exhibition and understand the spirit of patriotism of our freedom fighters", he added.
Anand, Vice President, Senthil, Secretary of the trust, Mohandas, Coordinator of Rural Arts, Mahendran, Founder of Eera Nenjam Trust and many others were present during the inaugural function.
