The 41st Conference of Association of Surgeons of India, (Tamilnadu and Pondicherry chapeter) was inaugurated in the city.

Deliberating on the theme "Safe Surgery" the participant surgeons said that Safe Surgery is Safety for both Patient and Doctor. In the Era of consumerism it is at most important to protect own families, health and profession.
The Scientific session and workshop focused on learning open and laparoscopic surgery in International standards.
Inaugurating the conference Dr.Ashokan Dean of Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital said even though vidoes of vital surgeries are available in the social media, surgeons could learn the intricacies only through participating in conferences and workshops.
A live work shop of life-saving surgeries were conducted and surgeons explained the intricacies involved in each surgery.
He said that Coimbatore has at present 4 Medical Colleges, namely Government Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, PSGIMS, Karpagam Medical College and recently started ESI Medical College Hospital and many famous corporate hospitals.
