The Coimbatore Chapter of Young Indians (YI), under its project "Masoom" has been involved in sensitizing children on Child Safety in Corporation, Government and also private schools in Coimbatore for the past two years.
As child Safety is a growing concern with increase in violence against Children right from Child Labor, Sexual abuse, etc. In such a scenario, project Masoom educates children on how to protect themselves from such situations and also imbibe the courage to inform their parents of the issue. And, very importantly, the parents should also be equipped enough to handle the situation.
With awareness and prevention as top priorities, Young Indians has launched Project Masoom at all 40 chapters across the country. Through continued workshops,radio talk shows, public sessions etc, Yi has successfully sensitized over 60000 children in the city.
And with an effort to take this initiative to a wider audience, Yi Coimbatore Chapter along with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation will launch “Public Charter on Child Safety”, on 11th August 2017, Friday at the Kikani School Auditorium.
Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan, Commissioner, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and Ms.Rebeca Rios-Kohn, Director, WDPAC, Arigatou International, New York will unveil the Coimbatore “Public Charter on Child Safety” and violence against children.
