Tamilnadu Railway Police felicitated five Good Samaritan auto drivers who have helped to catch a thief who after robbing jewels and valuables from a train passenger in Coimbatore Railway junction had taken to his heels but was cornered and captured by the police and the autodirvers.
DSP Gunasekaran handed over Rs.500 each to the auto driver Manoharan, Jinna, Babu, Nawaz and Selvam who have helped a policeman to catch the culprit, after he dashed out of the junction after robbing 12 soverigns of gold jewel, pan card, ATM card and Aadhar card from woman passenger Saroja, who has traveled from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai on July 9.
Senthil kumar a police man on duty who watched the thief take to his heels has pursued him daringly and the four auto driver came to his resice to corner and catch the thief.
The culprit is identified as Ajith of Madurai, a habitual offender involved in vehicle theft in many places.
The stolen articles were returned to its owner Saroja, by the police. Railway IG Pon Manickavel lauded the police man and the auto drivers near the railway station for the daring act.
