National Service Scheme volunteers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) conducted a special Camp from July 22 to 28 in the adopted villages of Muthugoundanur, Sattakalpudhur, and Veerapagoundanur of Sokkanur Panchayat.

The activities for the 4th day (25-7-2017) started with the volunteers leaving to the Godhavadi Pond, to clean the premises. The pond which was once a source of water for over five villages is now barren with extensive weed infestation, due to invasive crops like prosopis, parthenium etc. Volunteers played their part in restoring the area to its original glory.
In the evening, volunteers organised a rally in Sattakalpudur, to create awareness on the dangers of alcoholism and smoking.
Another group of volunteers actively involved in white washing a Primary school in Sokkanur and cleaned the surroundings.
The villagers too joined on and engaged themselves in all the activities of the day with great enthusiasm and helped the volunteers work devotedly.
