The European Court of Justice lifted the ban on Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and removed the name of the separatist’s group from the black list.
The Court said that the European Union had not provided any solid evidence to prove that the LTTE had indulged in any terror activity after its military defeat at the end of Ezham war phase 4.
“The court of justice, therefore confirms the annulment of the continued freezing of its fund” it further contented.
European Union has created the terror black list following the World Trade Centre Attack in 2001. The LTTE was black listed in 2006 along with 24 other organisations.
