Police and Home Guards' service during Vanabhadrakaliamman temple festival much appreciated!


The service of Police officials during the two-day "Aadi Kundam" festival of Vanabhadrakaliamman temple in Mettupalayam came in for appreciation from many quarters.



As the 'Kundam' festival is about the devotees walking on a fire bed laid at the temple grounds facing the Goddess, Vanabhadrakaliamman; safety precautions and management of crowd plays a crucial role. As any negligence or mismanagement of the crowd could lead to life-threatening accidents.



Hundreds of police along with 150 home guards were deployed in crowd control, traffic regulation and crime prevention on July 24 and 25 during the auspicious Kundam festival at Mettupalayam.

Every year this festival that takes place in the month of Aadi (17th July -16th August) attracts thousands of devotees from several parts of the district like Pollachi, Udumalpet, Annur, Sathyamangalam, Bhavani and near by places.

The TN Police force and the home guards performed their duties to the best of their abilities in regulating the crowd in the best possible manner thereby ensuring the safety of the people, especially women and children. 



Their dutiful service was much appreciated by the public. Sub Inspector of Police, Mettupalayam  appreciated the service of the home guards for aiding in smooth conduct of the temple function.
