A dengue awareness programme was organized for the benefit of NSS volunteers of the Tamilnadu Agriculture University.
Town Welfare officer Dr.K.Santhosh Kumar explained the need to contain the outbreak of dengue by adopting fool- proof methods such as fogging and fumigation, keeping the environment clean by eliminating the potential mosquito breeding sites, details to the participants.
Health officer K.V.Thirumal said emptying collected rain water in tires, coconut shells, and sanitizing the water storing containers with bleaching powders and would help check mosquito breeding.
NSS volunteers later set out to create awareness on dengue among the staff in living quarters with in the university campus as part of the programme.
