As a mark of tribute and respect to Dr.Abdul Kalam, various NGO's, Educational Institutions, Government & Private Organisations initiate commendable projects focusing on greenery as proposed by Dr.Kalam.
In commemoration of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam's memorial day, on the 27th July, NGO Siruthuli has planned to organised a mass plantation drive along with Anna University.
Last year, on the first death anniversary of Dr.Kalam, Siruthuli planted 1000 trees in the same Anna University Campus which were mostly fruit bearing trees like Guava, Chikoo, Custard Apple, Jamun trees. Native trees like neem were also planted in large numbers at the University’s campus.
And, this year Siruthuli plans to plant 7500 saplings at the "Kalam Vanam", Anna University. The drive will commence at 9 am at the regional campus of Anna University, Somayampalyam.
