Women of Ulikkal Panchayat limits stage protest with empty pots, demand supply of uncontaminated drinking water

Over 100 women of Ulikkal Panchayat limits near Coonoor have laid siege to the panchayat office there, protesting against the supply of contaminated drinking water, which is supplied to them by the said panchayat.



The residents of Ulikkal, Ulikkal Hatti, Tiruvalluvarnagar who picketed the panchayat office with empty pots said “Due to apathy of panchayat office, a breach in the water supply pipeline was not set right, which lead to the admixture of sewage in drinking water supplied to them".



Demanding to supply the uncontaminated water, the women said that the panchayat officials should attend to the problem and set right the water supply system.
