The fire which broke out in the Vellalore land fill continued to rage for the fourth day today, with five fire tenders battling for hours to contain the fire which spread to new pockets in the land fill today.

The fire which broke out today around 5.30 pm continued to rage even producing thick smoke which engulfed Vellalore and the adjoining areas.

However the residents complain that they are put in extreme hardship because of the intermittent fire accidents in the Vellalore dump yard and also have pointed fingers at the Corporation officials for not handling the issue with caution.
Due to the prevailing high winds, the Fire and Rescue service personnel along with armed police personnel are struggling to douse the flames.
