S.P.Velumani, Minister for Rural Development inaugurated the renovation work and distribution of alluvial soil to the farmers in Narasimpathi tank, one of the vital water bodies in the city.
Farmers could mine for alluvial soil in the tank and utilize it for their land holdings after getting due permission from the district collector. The alluvial soil distribution scheme has been going on all over the state and farmers have benefited by it.
The storage capacity of the Narasmipathi tank which is 9.50 million cubic feet would be increased if farmers take alluvial soil from it which will help recharge the ground water table in its vicinity, as well.
“The chief minister Edapadi K.Palanisamy has allocated Rs.200 crore for community renovation of ponds and water bodies (Kudimaramathu) in the state, which would help deepen the ponds and increase its storage capacity which would help the agricultural sector wastly”, S.P.Velumani noted.
