CCM Corporation is to levy service taxes for garbage collection and UGDS connections and it will be collected along with property tax. The decision for the new arrangement was arrived at the meeting convened by Harminder Singh, Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration and water supply.
Convening the consultative meeting Harminder Singh, said that a tax collection target of Rs.144 crore has been set for the Corporation out of which Rs.28 crores have been collected for this fiscal.
To augment tax revenue to the City corporation Rs.10 would be collected from householders for garbage collection and Rs.50 from business enterprises and shops. This new levy would bring in a revenue of Rs.1.8 crore for month and Rs.20 crores annually.
The service taxes for Under Ground Drainage system would be collected in accordance with the property tax. The new taxes would come into force after it is deliberated in corporation council.
