Aadi Amavasai was observed with religious fervor at the Perur temple here, where devotees who thronged the temple gave “tarpanam” to ancestors to get their blessings.

Aadi Amavsai, is special new moon day which is observed to get blessings of the ancestors by practicing Hindus in the Tamil month of Aadi.

“Offering ritual tarpanam to ancestors can elevate one status and help get the blessings of one's ancestors.
