In the recent times, the Coimbatore City Corporation has introduced several initiatives to uplift the city, under the Smart City Mission. And, one such initiative is the 'Smart bench' model project unveiled in the city corporation office.
The smart benches are solar -powered with in-built air quality monitor and WiFi facility which is installed in a lounge area of 400 square feet on an artificial grass surface.
Speaking on this new initiative, CCMC Commissioner, Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan said that "The response from the public has been overwhelming which has motivated us to install 30 smart tree benches in various parts of the city to benefit the citizens. The smart city board in New Delhi have also extended their approval and appreciation for the project".
Designed as a part of Smart city initiative, people can use this smart bench at the Corporation office and browse using free WiFi facility with ambient air quality, which would be monitored through the device fitted in the smart bench.
