Condemning against the 12% GST levied on sanitary napkins, an essential item to maintain menstrual health of millions of women protesters here in the city organized a novel protest in which napkins were sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The women protestors belonging to the Puratchigara Ilagnar Munnani outfit had organized this novel protest in front of the Head Post Office, as a mark of protest to the Central Government for levying 12% tax on sanitary napkins. The protestors who were mostly women held placard and raised slogans agsinst 12% GST on sanitary napkins and urged the government to recall its announcement. Police arrested six women protesters who have organized this protest in the city.
Indeed, womenfolk across India and even an Assamese MP have been demanding for 'zero' GST for an item which is essential for women health and hygiene.
