A young Anesthesiologist with major degloving injury and polytrauma was air lifted by Ganga Air Ambulance facility from Hubli in Karnataka. The transfer from Hubli to Coimbatore had happened in just 2 hours 45 minutes.
When the patient arrived was admitted in Ganga hospital, he was tachyopneic and had to be ventilated and after stabilizing was taken for an extensive debridement. The patient was stabilized in less than 36 hours of arrival. Though the e-transport cost was around 6 lakhs, Ganga hospital subsidized and billed only Rs.3 lakhs.
It is to be noted that the Air Ambulance facility was launched only 20 days ago and so far six critically injured patients were transported successfully through this facility. And, undoubtedly this service will be a boon to critically injured patients seeking immediate medical attention.
