In a bid to preserve the snake species and also to observe the Global Snakes day, which is observed 16th July, Wildlife wranglers, an NGO, organised a Snake Awareness Program for the public in Kallar, Mettupalayam, yesterday.

During the event, myths and misconceptions relating to snakes, different species of snakes, endangered species, the role of snakes in the eco system and importantly the first aid that needs to be administered in case of a snake bite were explained in detail by the volunteers of Wildlife Wranglers.

Also, the students from Cuckoo library through a simple drama demonstrated the do's and dont's, if a person is encountered with a snake bite.

Uthukuli Iyalvaagai Cuckoo library students, Members from Wild Wing Trust, Students from Govt. Arts and Science College Ooty, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Wildlife enthusiasts, representatives of eco conservation-based NGOs' and public took part in the session.

At the end of the session, SNACA'17 awareness posters were also launched which would be shortly distributed in large numbers to the public in Tamilnadu.
