After a lull since last week of June, Nilgiris district and Coimbatore received moderate rain fall and the rains are expected to pick up from 19th July as indicated earlier for 2-3 days.
There will be good rains in most of the western parts of Tamil Nadu located near to the Ghats.

Chennai - Drizzle type or Ooty like light rains possible today, need to wait for next intense thunderstorm.
In Chennai not much intense rain activity with thunderstorms are expected in the city with the prevailing gloomy weather. But some activity is expected south of Chennai till pondy/cuddalore.
There would be less confirmed rains today most likely is around Tiruvarur belt. North western interior district has good chance of some moderate rains. Light to moderate rains will occur in parts of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri. Vellore and Tiruvannamalai. The stretch between Cuddalore and Delta too has possibility of rains.
