S. Kannan, Central Excise Commissioner and other Commercial Tax officials while addressing the work shop exhorted the media persons to highlight only the positive regarding while down playing the negatives with the regard to the e GST tax.
While answering the question regarding data theft , he said that t 48 % data security systems are with the Government and while 52% data are with private banks such as HDFC and ICCI. And with such fool-proof system in place there need not be any worries about data security. However they denied any technical knowledge on the security protocols followed by the Government with regard to GST.
While expressing hope that the prices of only 20% goods and services may go up due to GST, the remaining 80% goods would not be touched by the roll out of the new taxation system. The annual inflation rate would increase by 3.5% against 2.18% at present.
