To preserve pristine beauty and sanctity of the Velliangiri Hills, Thenkailaya Bhakti Peravai, organized the cleaning drive on four consecutive Sundays in the month of June.
The cleanup was done on the occasion of world environment day and Isha volunteers from Chennai, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Trichy, Pollachi, Chidambaram, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Sivakasi, Madurai, Nagapatinam, NSS students from KG college and SNS Rajalaksjmi college have taken part in cleanup drive of the pristine hills.
About 400 kg of plastic waste has been cleared from the hill trekking pathway and around the temple situated at the foothills. Campaign organizers have said that almost 1200 kg of plastic waste has been cleared from the whole cleanup drive conducted on four consecutive Sundays.
