Ganga Hospital, one of the world - renowned hospitals for Orthopedic and Plastic surgery has stepped into a silver jubilee year and is celebrating Silver jubilee of the inauguration of Specialty Centre of Orthopedics and Plastic surgery.

Started by Dr.J.G.Shanmuganathan and his wife Kanakavalli Shanmuganathan in 1992, with just 17 beds and two operation theatres, the hospital has grown in to a one of the biggest medical institutions in Tamilandu with 500 beds and 21 operation theatres today.

In 2016 alone, over 1, 50,000 outpatients from all over country and foreign nations were treated and 24462 plastic and micro surgeries performed in the hospital. Placing Coimbatore in the world Health map, in the twin specialties, the Ganga Hospital has introduced micro-vascular reconstruction and complex spine surgery corrections to this region.

Pioneering in excellence in clinical work, academics and research, Ganga Hospital has set world standards in treating patient’s severe injuries in limbs. The combined orthopedic and plastic surgery reconstruction, also known as Ganga Hospital Open Injury score is followed worldwide in preventing amputation to limbs.

Academically Ganga Hospital happens to be one of the largest academic institutions among non-medical college hospitals in the country, and is offering fellowship in Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Spine surgery, Sports medicine and Trauma surgery. It is a recognized research institution both by Madras University and Dr. M.G.R Medical University offering doctorates (PhD) So far 1042 doctors from 42 countries have been trained in the institution.
