Food Bank Coimbatore conducts massive food drive this World Hunger Day

Today, being World Hunger Day, with more than 795 million people in the world do not have enough food, Food Bank Coimbatore is working towards creating a difference in this aspect and making the nation hunger free.

Storytelling is one of the most effective ways to drive home a point. Today, Food Bank Coimbatore organized an awareness session for kids with city based story teller Priya who beautifully explained to the kids the importance of sharing food with the needy and as well as not wasting food. More than 50 kids along with their parents were present at the session and took home with them, a message for a lifetime.

One of the parents who joined the awareness session shared with SimpliCity that "It is a wonderful initiative taken by the Food Bank Coimbatore. Our kids are the citizens of tomorrow. If the message of not wasting food is imparted to kids now, they will implement it not just personally but hopefully on a larger, greater scale. We have also taken part in the signature campaign to support the cause and made sure we will not waste food and serve the needy."

After the story telling session a massive food drive was conducted where more than 1000 meals were served to needy people across the city. With more than 200 volunteers the organization distributed food to physically handicapped, mentally challenged and the old aged.
