Around 100 TASMAC employees, with the support of the All Workers Union, has embarked on a hunger strike at Sivananda Colony seeking job security. In the recent times, the general public has adopted a hostile attitude towards the TASMACs of the state. There have been a lot of instances where people have broken in and created a ruckus at TASMACs. In such a dangerous situation, TASMAC employees opine that they have neither job security nor any assurance of safety.

After the High Court order to shut down all liquor shops on national and state highways, employees working in these shops are left without means to earn their daily bread. Hence, the TASMAC employees demanded, that all employees of shut down TASMACs must be relocated to legally operating ones and that they should also be provided with a permanent government job for security purposes.
