The Department of Cardiology, PSG Hospitals, latterly inaugurated PSG Heart Valve Forum. The forum was set in motion by S.Ramalingam, Dean; P.R.Rajkumar, Medical Director and S.Karthkeyan, Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
The forum is the brainchild of Dr.P.R.Murugesan, Head of Department of Cardio and Thoracic Surgery. The hospital has successfully completed 1000 heart valve surgeries till date with a success rate of 90-95 %. This forum aims at restoring the umbilical cord between the valve recipient and the hospitals. The post operative care and support plays a vital role in such type of surgeries. In an institution, the doctors and surgeons may change, but the patient and the institution remains constant. This forum will help bridge that gap by bringing the surgeons, doctors, dietitians, dentists, naturopathy doctors, psychiatrists and all other valve recipients and their families under one roof.
This forum will enable the patients to interact with doctors and and other valve recipients in order to gain much needed support. The patients can get counseling from experts, who will help them lead a healthy and positive life. The forum will also be hosting regular discussions and sessions to assist the speedy recovery from the physical and mental stress after the surgery.
