Vacant Plot Owners Get 15 Days to Clean Up or Pay Penalty: Coimbatore Corporation

The Coimbatore Corporation has urged vacant plot owners to remove garbage, waste and overgrown bushes and keep their premises clean. Poorly maintained plots could cause foul odour, mosquito breeding and infections. Owners failing to clean plots within 15 days of notice may have the waste removed by Corporation workers, with the cost collected as a penalty.

Coimbatore:. Coimbatore Corporation has warned owners of vacant plots within city limits to clear garbage and waste from their premises immediately or face penalty action from the civic body.

The Corporation said several privately owned vacant plots within its limits are not being maintained properly, resulting in the dumping of garbage and waste. This has created the risk of unhygienic conditions, foul odour, mosquito breeding and the spread of infections in these areas.

Hence, directives have been issued to owners of vacant plots to immediately remove the garbage, waste and bushes from their premises and ensure that the plots are maintained clean.

Notices will be issued through the Corporation's health inspectors to owners of vacant plots found to be in an unhygienic condition. Following the issuance of the notice, owners will be required to clean their plots at their own expense within 15 days, the corporation said.

If the plots are not cleaned within the stipulated period, the Corporation will remove the garbage using its sanitary workers and machinery. The cost incurred for the cleaning will be collected as a penalty from the respective property owners.

The Corporation has urged vacant plot owners to clean their properties immediately and maintain them properly on a continuing basis to avoid action by the civic body. It has also appealed to members of the public not to dump garbage in vacant plots or public places and to extend full cooperation to the Corporation in maintaining the city clean.
