Southern Railway will operate special trains between Bengaluru Cantonment and Thiruvananthapuram North on August 28 and 29 to meet the increased passenger demand during the Onam festival. The trains will stop at Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur and several other stations along the route.
Coimbatore: In view of the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming Onam festival, special trains will be operated between Bengaluru Cantonment and Thiruvananthapuram North to cater to the additional travel demand.
Train No. 06579, Bengaluru Cantonment–Thiruvananthapuram North Special, will depart from Bengaluru Cantonment at 4.40 p.m. on August 28 and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 10.30 a.m. the following day.
The return service, Train No. 06580, Thiruvananthapuram North–Bengaluru Cantonment Special, will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North at 12.40 p.m. on August 29 and reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 5.15 a.m. the following day. No.196Special Trains.docx

On August 28, Train No. 06579 will arrive at Salem at 10.20 p.m. and depart at 10.23 p.m., before reaching Erode at 11.20 p.m. and departing at 11.30 p.m. On August 29, it will arrive at Tiruppur at 12.20 a.m. and Podanur at 1.44 a.m., with departures scheduled at 12.22 a.m. and 1.45 a.m., respectively.
On the return journey on August 29, Train No. 06580 will arrive at Podanur at 8.59 p.m. and depart at 9 p.m. It will reach Tiruppur at 9.38 p.m. and depart at 9.40 p.m., followed by Erode at 10.20 p.m. and departure at 10.30 p.m. The train will reach Salem at 11.25 p.m. and depart at 11.28 p.m.
The special trains will comprise AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, General Second Class and Luggage-cum-Brake Van coaches.
