Four migrant workers from Bihar were arrested by Saibaba Colony police for allegedly gambling with cash at an open ground in Velandipalayam, Coimbatore. Police seized ₹30,000 in cash, three packs of playing cards and a two-wheeler allegedly used in connection with the activity.
According to police, Saibaba Colony Special Sub-Inspector Senthilkumar received information that a group of persons was allegedly gambling for money at an open ground behind the Pongaliyamman Temple in Velandipalayam.
Acting on the information, a police team reached the spot and found four men seated in a circle and allegedly engaged in gambling. They were detained and taken into custody for questioning.
The accused were identified as Dharmendra (38), Rahul Kumar Sahani (28), Mohamed Sozhir Mansoori (31) and Rajesh Sahani (31), all natives of Bihar.
Police recovered ₹30,000 in cash allegedly used for gambling, three packs of playing cards and a two-wheeler from the spot.
The four men were subsequently released on bail.
