Podanur–Chennai Weekend Special Trains Extended Till August 30

Southern Railway has extended the operation of the Podanur–Chennai Central weekend special trains till August 30, with the services continuing on Friday to Sunday to meet the growing passenger demand.

Coimbatore: Passengers travelling between Coimbatore and Chennai will continue to benefit from the weekend special train services, as Southern Railway has extended their operation till August 30 in response to sustained passenger demand. No.168Service Period of Special Trains Extended.docx

The extension covers the Podanur–Chennai Central and Chennai Central–Podanur special trains, which will operate every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from August 7 to August 30, offering a total of 12 services in each direction. No.168Service Period of Special Trains Extended.docx

Train No. 06028 will depart from Podanur Junction at 7.40 a.m. and reach Chennai Central at 4.45 p.m. on the same day. The return service, Train No. 06027, will leave Chennai Central at 5.45 p.m. and arrive at Podanur Junction at 3 a.m. the following day. No.168Service Period of Special Trains Extended.docx

En route, the trains will halt at Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Morappur, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Perambur, providing improved connectivity for passengers travelling along the route. According to Southern Railway’s Salem Division, the decision to continue the weekend special services has been taken to accommodate the growing number of passengers travelling between western Tamil Nadu and Chennai.
