Prohibition and Excise Minister K Vignesh on September 16, 2026, opened completed civic works worth Rs 25 lakh and performed groundwork for new projects worth Rs 26.90 lakh in Coimbatore Corporation's South Zone. He inaugurated a new anganwadi centre in Sundarapuram and a sanitary inspector office in Kallukuzhi Street, both under Ward 94. He also launched works including a passenger shelter on Saradha Mill Road, a borewell in Bothanur, well water supply to Konavaikalpalayam, and a small bridge in Ganesapuram, in the presence of District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja.
Coimbatore: Prohibition and Excise Minister K Vignesh on September 16, 2026, opened completed civic works worth Rs 25 lakh for public use and launched works worth Rs 26.90 lakh through a groundbreaking ceremony in the areas under Coimbatore Corporation's South Zone.
The event was held in the presence of District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar, IAS, and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, IAS.
Minister Vignesh inaugurated a new anganwadi centre built at a cost of Rs 15 lakh under the Corporation's general fund in Sundarapuram, Registrar Colony area, falling under Ward 94 of the South Zone. He also opened and inspected a new sanitary inspector office building constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh under the Corporation's general fund in Kallukuzhi Street, within the same ward.
Following this, the minister took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for works worth a total of Rs 26.90 lakh. These included a passenger shelter to be built at a cost of Rs 8.85 lakh under the Corporation's general fund on Saradha Mill Road, Sangam Street area under Ward 96, and a new borewell to be set up at a cost of Rs 9.40 lakh in Bothanur, Arputham Nagar area under Ward 99.
Also launched was a project to supply well water through a main pipeline to Konavaikalpalayam area under Ward 85, and the construction of a small bridge at a cost of Rs 8.65 lakh under the Corporation's general fund in Ganesapuram Amman Nagar area (behind Muthu Mariamman Temple), falling under Ward 100.
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor R Vetriselvan, South Zone chairperson Re Thanalakshmi, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Kanakaraj, Executive Engineer Madhi Jacquline Joy Latha, Assistant Executive Engineer Kanakaraj, ward committee members Gunasekaran and Karthikeyan, Assistant Engineers Nataraj and Indira Gandhi, Junior Engineer Jagadeeswari, Sanitary Inspector Balakumar, and several Corporation officials.
