Valparai Records Highest Rainfall in Coimbatore District; Siruvani Receives 30 mm

The Valparai region recorded the highest cumulative rainfall in Coimbatore district with 100 mm across five rain gauge stations, while Siruvani recorded the highest rainfall among individual stations at 30 mm during the past 24 hours.


Coimbatore: The Valparai region recorded the highest cumulative rainfall in Coimbatore district during the 24-hour period ending at 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday, receiving a total of 100 mm across five rain gauge stations, according to the Coimbatore District Disaster Management report.

Among individual rain gauge stations, Siruvani recorded the highest rainfall in the district with 30 mm.

Within the Valparai region, Valparai PAP received 26 mm of rainfall, followed by Valparai Taluk with 24 mm, Chinnakallar with 22 mm, Sholayar with 16 mm and Cinchona with 12 mm, taking the region's cumulative rainfall to 100 mm.

Elsewhere in the district, Madukkarai received 10 mm of rainfall, while Kinathukadavu and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) recorded 1 mm and 0.6 mm respectively. No rainfall was recorded at the remaining rain gauge stations during the reporting period.

Overall, Coimbatore district received a total of 141.60 mm of rainfall, with an average rainfall of 6.16 mm, which falls under the light rainfall category as per the District Disaster Management classification.
