Coimbatore Cop Arrested After Woman Accuses Him of Threats and Forced Abortion

A police constable attached to Pillur Police Station near Coimbatore has been arrested by the All Women Police following allegations that he hid his marital status, impregnated a young woman, forced her to undergo an abortion and issued death threats.

Coimbatore: Udhayakumar, son of Kuppuraj from Anaimalai South Street near Pollachi in Coimbatore district, was serving as a police constable at the Pillur Police Station.

According to police sources, he was allegedly in a relationship with a 27-year-old woman from the Perur area. The woman claimed that he introduced himself as unmarried, gained her trust through promises of love and maintained a close relationship with her over a period of time.

During the relationship, the woman reportedly became pregnant. After learning about the pregnancy, the constable allegedly took her to private hospitals near Vadavalli and Avinashi and forced her to undergo an abortion against her wishes.

The woman later came to know that Udhayakumar was already married and had children, leaving her shocked and distressed. When she questioned him, he allegedly threatened to release private videos of them together on social media and also threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone.

Following this, the woman lodged a complaint at the Perur All Women Police Station. Based on the complaint and subsequent inquiry, police said the allegations of cheating, intimidation and exploitation were found to have substance.

Perur All Women Police subsequently arrested constable Udhayakumar and remanded him to judicial custody.
