Two arrested in Valparai for possessing 2.3 kg of ganja

Valparai police arrested two individuals, including an Odisha native, for possessing 2.3 kg of ganja. The arrests follow a previous case involving college students in ganja distribution.

Coimbatore: In a follow-up to a recent ganja case involving college students, the Valparai police have arrested two more individuals and seized 2.3 kg of ganja from their possession.

On October 12, 2024, four individuals, including college students, were arrested near the new bus stand in Valparai for ganja-related offenses. Following this incident, the police apprehended Subakarthi, 20, a resident of Nallakathu Estate in Valparai, who had been evading arrest.

Based on information provided by Subakarthi, a team led by Valparai Inspector Anandakumar, along with Sub-Inspector Palani and constables Manikandan and others, traveled to Perundurai in Erode district. There, they arrested Bisantha Tanda, 30, a native of Odisha currently residing in Perundurai.

Bisantha Tanda, who had been involved in a ganja case last year, was found in possession of 2.3 kg of ganja. The police seized the contraband, brought the accused to Valparai, registered a case, and remanded him to judicial custody.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Valparai police to curb the distribution and use of ganja in the region, especially among college students.
