Gram Sabha Meetings Held Across Coimbatore District on Gandhi Jayanti

Gram Sabha meetings were conducted in various parts of Coimbatore district on October 2, marking Gandhi Jayanti. Residents participated actively, presenting petitions and discussing local issues with panchayat officials.


Coimbatore: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, multiple Gram Sabha meetings were held across different panchayats in Coimbatore district on October 2. These meetings saw active participation from local residents who presented their grievances and demands to the panchayat officials.

In Perianaickenpalayam Union, a Gram Sabha meeting was conducted where the public submitted petitions to the East Union Secretary, Karthik, and other administrators. The meeting also included an awareness session on the harmful effects of tobacco, with participants taking an anti-tobacco pledge.



At Then Sangampalayam Panchayat in Anaimalai Taluk, the Gram Sabha meeting was presided over by Panchayat President S.R. Annadurai. A large number of residents attended the meeting and presented their demands to the panchayat president.

The Pillayappalayam Panchayat also conducted its Gram Sabha meeting under the leadership of President Lakshmana Moorthy. The proceedings included reading out the panchayat's income and expenditure details, honoring sanitation workers, and taking a pledge against sexually transmitted diseases.



In Kaniyur Panchayat of Sulur Block, the Gram Sabha meeting was held at the Kolluppalayam Community Hall. Residents participated enthusiastically, submitting petitions highlighting issues in their respective areas. Notably, the Lakshmi Vinayaka People's Service Association presented petitions on behalf of the Lakshmi Nagar area residents.

These Gram Sabha meetings serve as an important platform for direct democracy, allowing villagers to voice their concerns and participate in local governance. The active involvement of citizens in these meetings demonstrates the strength of grassroots democracy in the region.
