Gandhi Jayanti: Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj Pays Tribute in Dharapuram

Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj observed Gandhi Jayanti in Dharapuram by garlanding statues of Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Kamarajar. She emphasized the importance of following the path of non-violence.


Coimbatore: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Human Resource Development Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his statue in Dharapuram, Tiruppur district.

The Minister garlanded Gandhi's statue near the old municipality office in Dharapuram. She also paid respects to the statues of Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary and Kamarajar on his death anniversary.



The event was presided over by Dharapuram DMK Town Secretary Muruganantham and attended by DMK Town Council President Kathiravan. Thennarasu, President of the Tiruppur South District Congress Party, also participated in the event.

Speaking at the event, Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj said, "Gandhi fought through the path of non-violence. We should follow his path and emulate the principles he lived by."

The ceremony was attended by Dharapuram Municipal Chairman Pappu Kannan, DMK Town Deputy Secretaries Kamalakkannan, Thavaselvan, and Celine Philomena, former MLAs Saraswathi Rajendran and Prabhavathi Periyasamy, municipal council members, and several former and current DMK executives.

On behalf of the Congress party, Tiruppur South District Congress Town President Senthilkumar, spokesperson Muruganantham, Tiruppur Kalaimamani Kalarani, Municipal Vice-Chairman Ravichandran, and Congress executives including Kanapiriya, Asokkumar, and Varappalaiyam Muthukumar also participated in the event.
