Union Minister L Murugan Criticizes DMK Government's Stance on Spirituality

Union Minister L Murugan participated in Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations in Mettupalayam, criticizing the DMK government's approach to spirituality and law and order in Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore: Union Minister of State L Murugan participated in Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations at his camp office in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district, and later addressed the media, criticizing the DMK government's stance on spirituality and law and order in Tamil Nadu.

Murugan had installed a Vinayagar idol at his office in Ponvizha Nagar, Mettupalayam, which was later taken out in a procession to be immersed in the Bhavani River. The minister took part in the special prayers before the procession.

Speaking to reporters, Murugan accused the Tamil Nadu government of deteriorating law and order, claiming that six murders occur daily in the state. He also criticized the proliferation of TASMAC liquor shops, alleging that the government is making people addicted to alcohol.

The minister questioned the arrest of spiritual speaker Mahavishnu, stating that even the government doesn't know why the arrest was made. He accused the DMK government of arresting people simply for being spiritual.

Murugan also alleged that the DMK government created difficulties for people trying to install Vinayagar idols for Chaturthi celebrations. Despite these challenges, he noted that people have enthusiastically participated in Vinayagar Chaturthi processions.

"Tamil Nadu is a land of spirituality. If the DK and DMK think they can destroy spirituality in Tamil Nadu, it won't be possible," Murugan declared, emphasizing the deep-rooted spiritual traditions of the state.

The minister urged the government not to mix spirituality and politics. He participated in the Vinayagar Chaturthi worship at his camp office, where party officials were also present to send off the Vinayagar idol for immersion.
