Preparations Underway for Ganesh Idol Immersion in Bhavani River at Mettupalayam

Authorities in Mettupalayam are clearing sludge from the Bhavani River to facilitate safe Ganesh idol immersion. Over 300 idols will be immersed following Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

Coimbatore: The Mettupalayam municipality and police department are actively clearing sludge from the Bhavani River near the Subramaniar Temple to ensure a safe and smooth immersion of Ganesh idols following the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

As Vinayaka Chaturthi approaches, Hindu organizations and the general public in Mettupalayam and surrounding areas are preparing to install and worship Ganesh idols. More than 300 Ganesh idols will be installed across various locations including Mettupalayam, Annur, and Karamadai. These idols are scheduled to be immersed in the Bhavani River after two days of festivities.

The designated spot for idol immersion near the Subramaniar Temple in Mettupalayam has been found to be muddy and potentially hazardous. To address this issue and ensure public safety, the municipal administration and police department have deployed JCB machines to remove the sludge and clear the area.

In preparation for the procession of idols from the CDC Depot to the Subramaniar Temple, authorities are implementing strict security measures. Over 50 CCTV cameras have been installed at various points along the route to maintain vigilant surveillance.

To prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities, more than 500 police personnel will be deployed across the town for security duties. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration of Vinayaka Chaturthi in Mettupalayam and its surrounding areas.
