DMK Councillors Stage Walkout Against Own Party Chairman in Kottur Town Panchayat Meeting, Pollachi

DMK councillors stage a dramatic walkout during Kottur Town Panchayat meeting near Pollachi, accusing their own party chairman of corruption and mismanagement of funds. The incident caused a stir in the council meeting.

Coimbatore: In a surprising turn of events, DMK councillors staged a walkout during the Kottur Town Panchayat council meeting near Pollachi today, protesting against their own party chairman. The incident has created a stir in local political circles.

The ordinary meeting of the Kottur Town Panchayat was held in the conference hall of the office. The meeting was chaired by Panchayat Chairman Ramakrishnan and attended by ward councillors from both DMK and AIADMK parties.

Before the meeting could officially begin, DMK ward councillors accused Chairman Ramakrishnan of acting independently and engaging in corrupt practices. They alleged that he was not presenting proper income and expenditure accounts and misusing government funds allocated for public welfare projects in the panchayat.

The DMK councillors further claimed that Chairman Ramakrishnan was overcharging taxes but showing lesser amounts in the accounts. They also accused him of misappropriating government funds. The councillors stated that despite lodging complaints about these issues, no action had been taken.

Emphasizing their demand for action against the panchayat chairman, the DMK ward councillors walked out of the meeting, leaving the proceedings in disarray. The dramatic exit of the ruling party councillors against their own chairman has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about internal conflicts within the local DMK unit.

The incident has brought to light serious allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption within the Kottur Town Panchayat administration, potentially necessitating a higher-level inquiry into the matter.
