On the last Friday of Aadi month, Idukkan Kudi Mariamman Temple in Coimbatore was decorated with Rs 6.5 lakh and nine types of grains, showcasing devotees' faith and traditional practices.

Coimbatore: The Idukkan Kudi Mariamman Temple in Coimbatore has been adorned with Rs 6.5 lakh in cash and nine types of grains on the last Friday of the Tamil month of Aadi. This special decoration marks the culmination of the auspicious Aadi month, which is considered highly favorable for the worship of Amman (goddess).

Throughout the Aadi month, special pujas are conducted for the goddess on all Fridays, as it is believed to be a particularly sacred time for devotees of Amman. The temple, located on Thomas Street in Coimbatore, has been completely decorated with currency notes totaling Rs 6.5 lakh inside the sanctum sanctorum.

In addition to the money decoration, the Annapakshi (swan-shaped vehicle) on which the goddess is seated has been beautifully adorned with nine types of grains. This unique decoration symbolizes prosperity and abundance, aligning with the agricultural significance of the Aadi month.

Temple administrators have stated that all the money used for the decoration has been contributed by devotees. They also mentioned that on the following day, all the currency notes will be returned to the respective devotees after performing pujas, along with prasadam (sacred offerings).

This annual tradition at the Idukkan Kudi Mariamman Temple not only showcases the devotees' faith but also highlights the cultural and religious practices associated with the Aadi month in Tamil Nadu. The elaborate decoration serves as a visual spectacle, drawing numerous devotees to seek blessings from the goddess during this auspicious time.
