India-Germany Joint Air Exercise Commences at Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore

The first-ever joint air exercise between India and Germany began at Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore on August 6. The eight-day exercise aims to enhance cooperation and share expertise between the participating nations.


Coimbatore: The inaugural joint air exercise between India and Germany commenced today (Aug. 6) at the Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore. This eight-day military drill marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two nations.



The exercise is being conducted under the leadership of Indian Air Force Chief of Air Staff and German Air Force Chief of Air Staff, Ingo Gerhartz. Air force personnel from India, Germany, England, and Spain will be stationed in Coimbatore for eight days, participating in war simulation exercises at the Sulur Air Force base.

Prior to the commencement of the exercise, German Air Force Chief Ingo Gerhartz piloted a fighter jet to Coimbatore. Speaking to reporters upon his arrival, he expressed his pleasure in conducting this joint exercise with the Indian Air Force for the first time at the Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore.

"We have successfully completed similar joint exercises in four countries, including Australia and Japan. Now, we are conducting this exercise in India," Gerhartz stated. He further added, "Over the next eight days, this joint war simulation exercise will allow personnel from various countries to showcase their skills and familiarize themselves with the cutting-edge technologies currently employed in air force operations."

This collaborative military exercise is expected to strengthen defense ties between India and Germany while providing a platform for sharing expertise and enhancing interoperability between the participating air forces.
