Bookings Open: Indigo’s Abu Dhabi flight service from Coimbatore starts from August 10, 2024

Indigo Airlines will commence thrice-weekly direct flights between Coimbatore and Abu Dhabi from August 10, 2024, marking a significant milestone for Coimbatore International Airport's global connectivity.

Coimbatore: In a major boost to international air connectivity from Coimbatore, Indigo Airlines has announced the launch of direct flight services between Coimbatore and Abu Dhabi. The new route, set to commence from August 10, 2024, will operate thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

This development marks a significant milestone for Coimbatore International Airport, as Abu Dhabi becomes the city's third international destination after Singapore and Sharjah. The new service is expected to enhance business and leisure travel options for residents of Coimbatore and the Western Tamil Nadu region.

According to the schedule released by Indigo, flight 6E 1497 will depart from Coimbatore at 07:40 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 10:00. The return flight, 6E 1498, will leave Abu Dhabi at 00:55 and reach Coimbatore at 06:25.

The introduction of this route is the result of persistent efforts by various associations in the Western Tamil Nadu region. These organizations have been actively engaging with government authorities, airlines, and airports to improve international connectivity from Coimbatore.

Furthermore, these associations are collaborating with authorities in Abu Dhabi to facilitate transit visas, baggage services, and other amenities for passengers traveling beyond Abu Dhabi, especially to destinations in the USA and Europe.

In addition to the Abu Dhabi route, efforts are underway to persuade Flydubai to start direct flight operations from Dubai to Coimbatore, which would further expand the city's international air connectivity.

This new international service is expected to benefit a wide range of travelers, including business professionals, tourists, and the large Indian diaspora in the UAE and beyond. It also has the potential to boost trade and tourism between Coimbatore and the Middle East.
