A public grievance meeting was held at Coimbatore Corporation head office under Mayor Ka. Ranganayaki Ramachandran's leadership where residents submitted 54 petitions. Complaints regarding water supply, roads, street lights, sanitation and other basic amenities from five zones were received and immediate action was ordered on all submissions.
Coimbatore: A public grievance meeting was held today (26.05.2026) at the Coimbatore Corporation head office, presided over by Mayor Ka. Ranganayaki Ramachandran, in the presence of Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran.
During the meeting, residents from all parts of the Corporation submitted 54 petitions to the Mayor and Commissioner. Citizens presented a total of 54 petitions across five zones - East, West, North, South, and Central - as well as at the head office.
The petitions covered a wide range of basic amenities and civic issues including birth and death certificates, road facilities, street lights, drinking water supply, underground drainage, professional tax, property tax, vacant land tax, new water connections, name changes, medical facilities, sanitation, and education. Residents brought forth various demands concerning these essential services that affect their daily lives.
After receiving the petitions, the Mayor and Corporation Commissioner instructed the concerned zonal Assistant Commissioners, engineers, and officials to take immediate and appropriate action on all the submissions made by the public. They emphasized the need for prompt resolution of civic issues raised by citizens.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Ra. Vetriselvan, Deputy Commissioners Tha. Kumaresan and A. Sultana, Corporation Chief Engineer Vijayakumar, Health Officer Dr. V.C. Subash Gandhi, Town Planning Officer Rajasekaran, Corporation Education Officer Gunasekaran, Assistant Commissioners, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Zonal Health Officers, engineers, Health Inspectors, all Corporation officials, and members of the public.
