Student Complains to District Collector After School Denies Admission for Low Grades

In Keeranatham, Coimbatore, a student alleged that school administration denied admission in 11th grade due to low marks. Parents and INDIAN YOUTH CONGRESS officials have approached the District Collector seeking intervention.

Coimbatore: A student from Keeranatham area in Coimbatore District has lodged a complaint today at the District Collector's office against his school for denying him admission to the 11th grade due to low academic scores.

The student, who recently completed his 10th grade at Kovilpalayam Government Higher Secondary School, claimed that despite passing, the school refused to enroll him in the next grade. His multiple attempts with his parents to seek admission were in vain. Subsequently, he, along with several officials from the Indian National Youth Congress, visited the District Collector's office personally to submit a plea.

Further, he requested assistance to continue his education in the same school in the 11th grade. District officials have assured that they will investigate the matter and take necessary action. Meanwhile, another related incident came to attention; a private college was accused of accepting advance fees and then failing to reimburse them, as alleged by the affected students. This situation is currently under review as well.

These incidents have raised concerns about the adherence to educational rights under the Right to Education Act and the financial practices of private educational institutions, highlighting challenges in protecting students’ educational rights.
