Dr. Shibina Clinches Medical Degree with Toddler in Arms, Lauded by Health Minister

Shibina from Kerala managed to finish medical studies at Coimbatore ESI Medical College along with raising her toddler Halima. She was applauded by Health Minister Ma Subramanian during the graduation ceremony.


Coimbatore: Overcoming the challenges of motherhood and medical studies, Dr. Shibina from Malappuram, Kerala, successfully obtained her MBBS degree with her 18-month-old daughter Halima by her side. Shabna had enrolled in the Coimbatore ESI Medical College in the academic year 2018-19 and got married to Dr. Abdul Rauf in 2021, before completing her studies.

Shibina's life took a joyful turn as she continued her education even after her marriage and soon after, embraced motherhood. Nurtiring her daughter diligently, she remained steadfast in her pursuit of medicine and recently graduated as Dr. Shibina.



During a recent convocation in Coimbatore, Dr. Shibina, accompanied by little Halima, received her degree amidst applause. She was specially praised by Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian, who commended her for balancing personal commitments with professional education. The minister’s commendation echoes a significant acknowledgment of her perseverance and dedication.



The event was a proud moment not only for Shibina and her family but also for all who witnessed this inspiring journey. Defying the typical challenges faced by student-parents, Dr. Shibina’s achievement serves as a beacon of inspiration for many.
